Editorial policy

The bank keeps its books by these rules.

• Own stock only: every caption is composed for The Caption Bank, none are borrowed from other caption sites.
• Script accuracy: Devanagari and Bengali entries are proofread by someone who reads the script, with romanised Hindi checked for natural spelling.
• Shelf honesty: captions sit on the page they match, so the boys, girls and self love shelves each keep their own voice.
• Respect first: confidence is the product, cruelty is not. No caption here belittles anyone.
